The sun, with its ever present rays,
never goes a day without shining
to the earth below. Her intent gaze
sees through all, constantly reminding
us below of her power supreme,
and of her never ceasing esteem,
to give all she is to those below.
And above all, the gift to bestow
of her never failing warmth and light.
And though at times the clouds may cover
her brilliance, and remove her from sight,
she is always there, the earth her lover.
For behind the clouds and past the stars,
the sun must wait once more to be ours.
But while she is hidden from our view,
she makes a promise unequal to
any other-- she swears to return,
even in dark times when all seems gone.
We must remember and need to yearn,
for the light that comes with the new dawn.
